Paul G. Bell papers, 1912, 1937-2002.

This collection contains speeches, correspondence (1931-2000), chronological files (1967, 1977-1978), photographs, military patch and insignia metal, "My War Story," by Paul Gervais Bell, Jr. (privately printed, 1999), and an army officer's notebook. There is also genealogical research on the Bryan, Gawley, Austin, Perry, Shepard and Lewis families, which includes copies of letters, financial invoices, a diary, a school yearbook (1912) and photographs.

Paul Gervais Bell served the Texas State Historical Association as second vice president in 1996 and as president from 1998-1999. Bell is a descendant of Moses Austin Bryan and a member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas. Bryan, Moses Austin, 1817-1895

Moses Austin Bryan, 1817-1895, became Stephen F. Austin's secretary in 1832. Bryan enlisted in the Texas army in 1836 and served at the Battle of San Jacinto. He was a member of the Somervell Expedition in 1842, and enlisted in the Third Texas Regiment during the Civil War.
