About 1852 Port Townsend, WA had a population of 3 families and 15 bachelors. The Post Office and a sawmill were established in 1852. Alfred Plummer built one of the first houses in Port Townsend. Capt. Enoch S. Fowler was the captain of a topsail schooner. Gov. Stevens hired Capt.
