In 1922 Henry and Edsel Ford purchased Lincoln Motor Company from Henry M. Leland. In 1938, Ford Motor Company introduced the Mercury automobile. The Lincoln-Mercury Division was formed in October 1945 as part of Henry Ford II's restructuring of Ford Motor Company.
