The collection, 1868, 1958, and undated, consists almost entirely of published medical articles, reprints of articles, and medical booklets, mainly for identifying and preventing various contagious, epidemic, and other diseases, surgeries, and women's health issues. Veneral disease, exzema, biographies of doctors, articles on medical libraries and institutions, the insane and their care, and other topics, are also included. Most of these articles and booklets date up to the early 1920s. Various medical journals, lecture notes on medicine, 1868, and a non-medical article by the wife of one of the doctors whose articles are in the collection are also included. A number of the articles were printed in Michigan or were written and published by the Michigan State Board of Health.
