David Anderson photograph collection [graphic]. [1880-1950s]

David Anderson was an accomplished photographer and his collection reflects primarily his time as a photographer at Fargo. There is a broad range of topics and geographic areas represented. Fargo is perhaps represented the most, especially as they relate to businesses in the city. He photographed many grand openings and newly constructed and opened businesses in Fargo and Moorhead, Minn. Other notable photographs include documenting the funeral of aviator Carl Ben Eielson at Hatton, N.D., the visit of Norwegian Crown Prince Olav to Fargo, the building of the 1930s Federal Building in Fargo, German prisoners of war on the Peterson farm of rural Moorhead, Minn., the meat packing plant in West Fargo, remodeling of the Gardner Hotel in Fargo, Red River bridges and swimmers, and an extensive series of images related to North Dakota Agricultural College. For most of the prints the original negative is also preserved; but many, if not most, of the original negatives do not have corresponding prints. The lantern slides document the Fargo Water Filtration plant, the North Dakota Agricultural College campus, and the laying of the cornerstone of the Fargo College library in 1910, with former U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt the speaker.

97 lantern slides.
