Elizabethtown Library Company records, 1792-1812.

This collection consists of invoices and receipts for the acquisition of books. It also consists of book acquisition and missing book lists, an autograph collection of members, and record sheets of member's subscription payment history. Most of the invoices and receipts were signed by Elias B. Dayton, treasurer, and Jonathan Dayton. Later receipts were signed by W.R. Williamson, treasurer. Subscribers of record on the subscription lists include John Chetwood, David Austin, Jeremiah Ballard, Caleb Halsted, Shepard Kollock, Jonathan H. Lawrence, Isaac Morse, Robert Munn, Aaron Ogden, John C. Rudd, Samuel Smith, Isaac Williamson, and Lewis Woodruff.

The Elizabethtown Library Company was established as a private subscription library in 1755. Isaac Halstead Williamson and his son Benjamin Williamson were two of the most distinguished men who practiced law in New Jersey during the nineteenth century. Isaac H.
