Lafayette Guards military records, 1824.

This collection consists of the New York State Artillery division, brigade, regimental and company orders, dating from June 26, 1824 to October 11, 1824. The orders were sent by Captain J. Barrell to George G. Ryerson and are arranged in chronological order. Many of the orders are in preparation for General Lafayette's (1757-1834) visit to New York City on August 20, 1824, and include those for the Lafayette Guards to appear in full uniform to act as the general's escort. Later orders in the autumn of 1824 are for regimental inspections.
