Notes, drafts, and proofs for his five volume biography of Henry James comprise half of the collection. The papers also contain other writings on James by Edel, particularly introductions to modern printings and his editions of the plays and the ghostly tales. Transcripts of book reviews, correspondence and several of James's works are present including "The notebooks of Henry James," and "The scenic art," as well as "The diary of Alice Jame."
