The collection contains extensive runs of newsletters from the Iowa Nursing Home Association (INHA news and OMINHA bulletin), Meth-Wick Manor in Cedar Rapids (Life at Meth-Wick) and the Mayflower Home in Grinnell (Mayflower log). Extensive records and letters related to Oaknoll are also included.

Mabel Edwards was co-founder of the University of Iowa Institute of Gerontology, which operated from 1953 until 1971. As a research associate at the Institute she collected a wide variety of materials related to the aged in Iowa.
