[Map of the lower Mississippi River, neighboring coast, and the country to the southwest]. 1694.

Rough sketch map compiled by Vanden Bosh (an Anglican priest), but partly based on information provided by an Illinois or Shawnee Indian, probably from the Saint Louis region. Includes extensive notes, including "Lessainy where Monsr. de la Sale was killed", "town of the rich Spaniards", and "mountains of silver & gold mines"; identifies several Indian villages west of the Mississippi. On verso: Copy of a letter to Collo. [i.e. Colonel?] Nicholson, Govr. of Maryland. Sir-- I intended at first to send this map ... by Collo. Hermans ... [Signed] Lawrence Vanden Bosh. From North Sassifrix ye 19th day of Octobr. 1694.
