Consists of a fairly detailed history of the Alba Bales House, including the 75th anniversary celebration in 1997. The guest books from 1939-1971 provide an overview of the diversity of events and activities that took place at the house. The daily journals (1948-1951), which were written by the residents, offer a glimpse of the everyday duties as well as insights into the experience of living in the house. The articles are an artificial compilation of local newspaper items about the house over a 60-year period. The scrapbooks, of which all have been reconstructed, provide snapshots of the daily activities and festivities of the residents from the late 1940s to the early 1950s.

Built in 1922 and open for its first residents in the fall of 1923, the Alba Bales House provided practical experience as an integral part of the requirement for the training of home economics teachers, as mandated by the Smith-Hughes Act of 1917. The facility was originally named the Practice House, but was renamed in 1936 to the Home Management House to better reflect its purpose, and finally renamed the Alba Bales House in 1954, in honor of the first dean of the School of Home Economics.
