Pre and Post-Senate Personal Files, 1937-1992.

This series contains material relating to McGee's life before and after his senate career. The pre-senate material includes notes, papers, copies of his dissertation, and other items related to his M.A. and Ph. D. degrees, and teaching notes related to his career as a history professor at the University of Wyoming and at the Institute of International Affairs. Also included are personal and professional correspondence, and research material on Wyoming Senator Joseph O'Mahoney's staff. The post-senate material includes correspondence, background research and notes that McGee intended to use for his memoirs, transcripts of oral histories and interviews, and material related to his service as the U.S. Ambassador to the Organization of American States, to his consulting firm Gale W. McGee Associates, and to numerous boards and clubs he held membership in. Also included are tributes, letters of condolences, newspaper clippings, obituaries, and eulogies of McGee's death in 1992.
