The collection includes articles, reviews, press releases, programs, photographs, posters, research materials, flyers, correspondence, invitations, programs of tours (national and international), scripts. Highlights of the collection include programs and photographs for the productions at American Repertory Theatre, National Theatre (New York), Booth Theatre, Ethel Barrymore Theatre, Lincoln Center Theatre, La MaMa, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Westminster Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company (England), among them a program for the RSC production of Macbeth (1968), directed by Peter Hall, with Paul Scofield (Macbeth) and Vivien Merchant (Lady Macbeth) as well as a program for the Centre international des créations théâtrales (1980) of the productions presented by the La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club, directed by Peter Brook.

Paul Scofield (1922-2008) was educated at Varndean School for boys, Croydon Repertory School and the London Mask Theatre School. He started his stage career in the 1940s, unable to sign up due to medical reasons.
