Portraits of members of the Ponkapoag Dinner Club [graphic]. [ca. 1855]

A photographic album with individual portraits of the Ponkapoag Dinner Club members - a gentleman's club which met during the summer in Ponkapoag, Massachusetts at the home of Henry Austin Whitney. During the rest of the year, they met once a month at the homes of other club members. Portraits include Dr. Samuel Cabot; N. [illegible]; P[atrick] T[racy] Jackson; T . H. Jackson; Henry Lee, Jr.; Geo. N. Minot; Wm. Minot, Jr, ; Chas. Henry Parker; Dr. Samuel Parkman; Gardiner Howland Shaw; R. Sullivan, Jr.; and Charles A. Welch. Most, if not all, of the individuals graduated from Harvard College in the mid-1830s. The sitters appear to be in their later 30s or early 40s.

Parkman (Harvard, M.D. 1838) was a demonstrator of anatomy at Harvard Medical School from 1840 to 1849. He also taught anatomy at Castleton Medical College in Vermont, from 1843 to 1846.
