The collection contains two printed postcards depicting Indiana University Medical Center and Purdue University. Both items are postmarked 1911. Indiana Historical Society staff chose the postcards due to the significance of the depicted institutions to the career of Indiana-born astronaut David Wolf. Also included are two Certificates of Authenticity created by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The certificates state that the postcards were flown aboard the United States Space Shuttle Atlantis on a mission to the International Space Station in October 2002.
