In a letter to Sylvester Baxter, 1887 December 15, Remsen discusses the sweetness of "saccharine" and where it can be obtained. In letters to S.S. McClure, 1890 October 11, 1892 April 1, and 1894 July 25, Remsen promises to send articles, including the topics of production of petroleum, artificial preparation of food, and chemical method of treating disease. Mentions that Professor [Marcellin?] Berthelot has already covered an unnamed topic and that he is going on a yachting cruise.
