Goulding collection, 1830-1967.

Newspaper articles, diaries, correspondence, and books. A later addition to the Goulding collection includes five books, several of which contain biographical information on Dr. Goulding's grandfather, Dr. Thomas Goulding, who was born and lived in Georgia, and on the latter's son, the Rev. Francis R. Goulding, author of The young Marooners, a juvenile classic of its day. Also included is a manuscript diary written by Dr. Goulding's grandfather, William Randolph Beverly Hackley, written mostly in Key West, Florida, from 1830 to 1863. Also included are bank notes from 1859-1860, and various brochures and guides about Florida battles and slavery.

Methodist Minister, author. Reverend David Stratford Scadeng, Methodist Minister and father of Mrs. R.L. Goulding, was born in 1870 in London, England. He came to the United States in 1905, and became an American citizen. He was also an author who volunteered for YMCA service during World War I.
