Scrapbooks containing photographs, programs, articles and reviews of University of Michigan theater productions, 1967-1971, including Arthur Miller's "After the Fall." Miller visited the production and is in several photographs. Other performances include "Coming Real," "The Homecoming," "Of Mice and Men," "Serjeant Musgrave's Dance," The Ghost Sonata," The Balcony," and "The Plough and the Stars." Also lecture notes from Speech course 230 "The Arts of the Theatre."

James F. Coakley was a professor of theater in the University of Michigan's Department of Speech from 1966 to 1971. He directed theatrical performances of the University Players during those years. Outside of museum holdings, no comprehensive survey and inventory of campus artwork had been attempted since 1937. With support from the Michigan Commission on Art in Public Places, 1,076 items were inventoried during 1988-1990. Additional inventory work was undertaken in 1997-1998 for risk management purposed, but generated little new information.
