Scrap book, 1872-1920.

Scrap book, 1872-1920, includes: correspondence, train passes, programs, photographs, and newspaper clippings, documenting McKechnie's Freemason and temperance activities in Charlettetown (P.E.I., Canada); his work for various railroads; the social life of members of his and his wife's families; his wife's attempts to find work after his demise; and her social activities with the Farwell Woman's Club (Farwell, Mich.). The scrapbook has a green cover illustrated with circular designs and flowers and is entitled "Scrap Book" in gold letters. Addresses on the inside cover are for "Mrs. Sarah McKechnie, Ionia, Mi." and "Mrs. Jas. McKechnie, Charlettetown, P.E. Is., Jan. 1879."

James McKechnie worked in various positions for several railroads, including: telegraph operator and manager of the office of the Michigan Central Railroad, Jackson (Mich.), 1876-1879; chief train dispatcher and general buggy agent for Canadian Southern Railway, ca. 1873-1876; and station agent for the Detroit, Lansing and Northwest Railroad, Millbrook (Mich.), 1879-1882.
