Newspaper clippings. Several regarding the graduation at West Point in 1897. The majority cover the movements of the 1st Cavalry from Chicago to Camp Tanner in Springfield during April 1898 and then to Chickamauga, Ga. The Regiment suffered an epidemic of typhoid while in Georgia and all were mustered out in October 1898. The articles discuss the conditions in the camps, the medical care and the soldiers' responses to these and their attitudes towards Governor Tanner.
