Discusses Mrs. Wade's involvement in the civil rights movement in Mississippi during the 1960s and 1970s. Describes the participation in and opposition to the demonstrations by various Hattiesburg and Palmer's Crossing residents. Focuses on boycotts of area businesses that refused to serve or hire African Americans and on picketing protests outside the court house for denial of voting rights.

Mrs. Wade was born in 1931 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. During the 1960s and 1970s, She was active in many African American civil rights organizations, including the NAACP, CORE, COFO, and SNCC.
