Native of Colorado; reared in Nebraska. Received nursing degree in San Diego, California. Learned to fly in 1936 and eventually became a WASP, graduating with class 44-W-3 at Avenger Field in Texas. Was assigned to Dodge City Army Air Base and learned to fly the B-26. Later assigned to Stockton Army Air Base in California, Orlando, Florida, Kingman Army Air Base in Arizona, and Marana Army Air Field in California, and Love Field in Dallas, Texas.
