National Parks incl. Bryce Canyon & Zion Canyon, Denali, Glacier, Grand Canyon, Mesa Verde, Mt. Rainier, Rocky Mountain, Sequoia & Kings River Canyon, Yellowstone & Grand Teton, & Yosemite. Zion Canyon is listed as a subseries of Bryce Canyon based on geographical proximity. Sequoia & Kings River Canyon are managed as one park by National Park Service. Gleason labeled the Grand Teton images as part of Yellowstone Park. Series incl. many panoramic views of cliff & canyon, towering mountains, high plateaus, & unusual geological features incl. stone arches, geysers, "hoodoos" (fantastic rock formations found in Bryce Canyon) & hot springs. Other landscape features incl. buttes, glaciers, gorges, lakes, rivers, seracs, steep trails, & cascading waterfalls. Photographed subalpine flowers & trees. Natural phenomena incl. alpenglow (a reddish glow seen near sunset or sunrise on mountain summits), cloud effects, mists rising, & thunder clouds. Animals incl. bears, chipmunks, deer, & pack mules. Hotels incl. Glacier Park Hotel, Mammoth Springs Hotel, Old Faithful Inn, & Paradise Inn. Ports. of individuals incl. Mr. & Mrs. Emerson, J.B. Fett, Desmond Fitzgerald, E.W. Hamden, Stephen T. Mather, Frederick Law Olmsted II, Mr. D.S. Spencer, Mr. Reeves, Harold Russell, Jack Scheidell, & R.C. Syrett. Gleason appears in photos. at Echo Canyon, Zion National Park, & on Hermit Trail at Grand Canyon National Park. Gleason accompanied Sierra Club's expedition to Mt. Rainier in 1905. Incl. in Sierra Club scenes is image of single file of climbers making their way up Mt. Rainier. He photographed many Mt. Rainier glaciers incl. Carbon, Cowlitz, Emmons, Grinnell, Inter, & Nisqually. Copies from other works incl. images of Mt. Rainier photographed by Asahel Curtis. Yellowstone images taken in 1921 helped defeat legislation that would have allowed reclamation projects in national park.
