The Anna Martin Papers consist of approximately 300 color slides of villages and events throughout Alaska during the 1940s as well as a few letters written by Martin from Saint Lawrence Island and Nome, Alaska, during World War II. There is also a brief diary recording a trip through Alaska in 1933.

Anna Martin was born in Antigo, Wisconsin, in 1892, the daughter of a county judge. After completing her schooling in Antigo and losing her father and two brothers at early ages, Anna moved with her mother to California. She attended and graduated from Pomona College and received an M.A. degree from the University of California at Berkeley.
