The collection consists of eight volumes of general correspondence. The letters are written primarily in Italian and English and are dated from 1879 to 1912, while he served first under the General Baptist Missionary Society and then with the Baptist Missionary Society. Volumes for the years 1906 and 1907 are missing. Letters relate to property matters, disbursing funds and reporting to London, conditions of the poor in Italy to whom Shaw ministered and troublesome issues with Catholic authorities.
