Materials include financial records, 1867-1920, of William Mason and his estate, as well as cost books possibly of William Bent, treasurer of the company until 1914. Also includes act of incorporation and minutes of meetings of directors, 1920-1923; auditors' reports, 1923-1939; stock certificates and other documents, 1875-1932; typed lists of patents and inventions, ca. 1928; correspondence, 1914-1946; inventories of buildings and areas, cash books, check registers, etc., 1920-1940; private ledger and journal of William Mason, 1871-1914; list of suppliers and acknowledgment of orders, 1921-1925; sales notebooks, price lists, and machinery orders, 1897-1947; payroll records, 1910-1920 and time cards, 1948-1951; and production records, 1867-1947. Also includes records of the Liberty Square Warehouse Company, one of Mason's holdings. Early records indicate that this company was one of the financial interests of Amos and Abbott Lawrence and the Massachusetts Hospital Life Insurance Company; it leased storage and sales space to a variety of companies. Materials include records of stock transfers, 1826-1878, 1883-1911; dividends received, 1846-1878; bank books, 1847-1878; leases, 1826-1832; and a construction account book, 1877-1882. Collection also includes stock certificate book, 1893-1897, from Excelsior Spinner Association, Pawtucket, R.I.; and stock certificates, 1914-1918, from Jager Engine Company.

Located in Taunton, Mass., the company began in 1843 as William Mason and Company with financial backing from J.K. Mills and Company, Boston commission agents.
