Hazel Wolf papers, 1964-2000.

Correspondence, biographical information, speeches and writings, minutes and agendas, conference materials, reports, subject series, newsletters, clippings, and ephemera, 1969-2000. Most of the earlier material documents Wolf's activities with the Federation of Western Outdoor Clubs and the Seattle Audubon Society, dating from 1977 through 1986. Also included is documentation of Wolf's 1984 work on the Washington Democratic Party Platform Committee. Later records through 2000 continue to reflect Wolf's involvment with those organizations but also relate to various other subjects, such as the Hanford Oversight Committee, the Columbia Basin Project, old growth forests, Indian affairs, and Nicaragua. Environmental and social activist, Seattle, Wash. Hazel Anna Wolf (1898-2000) fought for feminism, human rights, organized labor, and environmental protection throughout her 101 years. She was a prominent member of the Seattle Audubon Society and served as its secretary for 37 years. The Seattle Audubon Society was organized in April 1916, one of the earliest local organizations devoted to the protection of wildlife and the conservation of natural resources. Activities of the early organization included monthly meetings, bird walks, an annual bird census, formation of a Junior Audubon Club, and various efforts to preserve bird habitats in the Seattle area.
