Herman Louis Ebeling collection, 1886-1927.

The collection of classics scholar, Herman Louis Ebeling, consists of student notebooks from his graduate and undergraduate studies at The Johns Hopkins University and a small number of correspondence from his teaching career at Goucher College. There are 20 notebooks (1887-1895), the subjects of which include lyric poetry, Greek theater, Sanskrit, Shakespeare, Greek grammar, and Latin lectures. The holographic notes are almost entirely in German. There are a few letters (1909-1927) in the collection addressed to Ebeling from Goucher president, William Westley Guth, that deal largely with Ebeling's contributions to a Goucher development fund.
