Ebeling, Herman Louis, 1857-1945.
Biographical note: Herman Louis Ebeling, classics scholar and Johns Hopkins University alumnus, was born in Catonsville, MD in 1857.
He completed his undergraduate studies at Hopkins in 1882. His graduate work was in the field of Greek studies, and he received the Ph.D. in 1889. After additional study in European universities, Ebeling taught Latin and Greek at Hopkins. In 1911 he was appointed to a position at Goucher College, Towson MD, where he remained until his retirement in 1933. Ebeling was the author of "Greek thought: selecions from Homer to Menander." Herman Louis Ebeling died in Baltimore in 1945.
