[Letter] 1858 July 26, Albemarle Female Institute, Charlottesville, Va. to [John Albert Broadus] / John Hart. 1858.

Broadus wrote Hart hoping to elicit his aid in Broadus's secret courtship of a Albemarle student. Hart replied "Your letter was awaiting me, which being read was 'straightway' set on fire and burnt up. In what you have to say I see no reason for any sort of despondency. Perhaps you do not make sufficent allowance for certain peculiarities in the case." John A. Broadus married Charlotte E. Sinclair, affectionately known as "Lottie", his second wife, Jan. 4, 1859. Hart wrote of being in Staunton, Va. and hearing [George Boardman] Taylor preach: "Taylor's sermons were very excellent. He has attained to very great simplicity of style and abundance in good, though sometimes rather homely illustrations."
