[Letter] 1857 Jan. 15, Baltimore to [John Albert Broadus] / G.B.T. 1857.

Asked Broadus about trip he made in December, 1856, to preach to First Baptist Church, New York City, following the death of pastor S.H. Cone. Wrote of hearing Henry Ward Beecher speak. Asks Broadus's opinion on close communion. Said "I have been for some time getting to be an inveterate doubter on matters in general. A miserable state it is. A positive skeptic I shall not be, but negative skepticism is worse."
