Autograph letter signed : London, to T.J. Thompson, 1858 Dec. 27.

Noting that he has not abandoned the subject [of Frederick and Anna Dickens' estrangement and separation], but that he has not communicated with Thompson because he has not seen Frederick, though he has "been waiting from day to day to see [him]." Enclosing (not present) a note Dickens received on the morning of the 27th from Frederick [evidently refusing mediation], and asking Thompson to "judge what it is possible to do, under such circumstances."
