Camp Cooke was built in the fall of 1866 in the angle of land between the Judith and Missouri rivers in central Montana. It was built as a temporary post but remained in operation until spring of 1870. Franklin Miller was a soldier in the 13th U.S. Infantry, Fort Riley, Kansas, until 1866. He then served at Camp Cooke and was discharged on August 5, 1867. Himie Voxman is among UI's most honored faculty and administrators.
