Notes in the hand of Charles Rice on Edmund Kean and his family (p. 1-49) and clippings on the death of Charles Dickens (p. 50-78). The first section also includes notes on Charles John Kean and Ellen Tree Kean. Notes on Edmund Kean includes cast lists for a number of plays (including Twelfth night, Merchant of Venice, Macbeth and King Lear); particular attention to "Remarkable casts of Othello in London" (p. 30-33) and "Remarkable changes in the cast of characters to Othello" (p. 48-49). Also, a list of roles Edmund Kean played in his career (p. 35-37). The remainder of the notebook contains newspaper clippings, mostly concerning Charles Dickens' death, his funeral, and the sale of paintings owned by Dickens. Also includes a review of Hawkins' Life of Kean (p. 55-58).
