Austin was born in England on Feb. 25, 1874. He emigrated to the U.S. in 1893, joining his brother, John, in Detroit (Mich.). There, the brothers were employed at Farrand and Votey Co., organ manufacturers. Eventually, they both contributed towards many improvements in the construction of pipe organs. Cumming, John, 1915-

Cumming, born in Mass. in 1915, served as Director of the Clarke Historical Library at CMU, 1961-1982. He was an early member and president of the Michigan Archival Association. He earned degrees from Eastern Michigan University and attended Wayne State University and Michigan State University.
