Waud estate Atlanta area photographs, 1880s.

The collection consists of a large composite photograph (20 x 24 inches) which contains twenty separate views of Alfred Waud's rural estate near Atlanta. The entire grouping was photographed by Edward & Son, Atlanta photographers. The views are chiefly of the residence and outbuildings with one scene showing the north Georgia mountains in the background and another of an interior shot.

"Waud, Alfred R. (2 Oct. 1828-6 Apr. 1891), artist and illustrator, was born Alfred Rudolph Waud in London... Waud emigrated to the United States in 1850, planning to seek employment with the actor and playwright John Brougham, who was then building a theater in New York City.
