Of note is material relating to the construction program which was the hallmark of his presidency and which includes bills, contracts, and specifications and correspondence and news clippings relating to the controversial dismissal of Burt Hartwell as Director of the College's Agricultural Experiment Station in 1928.

The University of Rhode Island was chartered as the state's agricultural school in 1888. It became the Rhode Island College of Agricultural and Mechanic Arts in 1892 and the first class was graduated two years later.
