Donaghey and Bryan special train at Altus, Franklin County, Arkansas. Spectators gathered around railroad tracks wave good-bye to special train as it leaves Altus with speakers on rear platform. Governor George W. Donaghey (1856-1937) and William Jennings Bryan toured Arkansas in a special train in September 1910, speaking for the adoption of the proposed initiative and referendum amendment to the state constitution. The five day trip, which began Tuesday, September 6, and ended September 10, covered 1,750 miles and included fifty-five speeches.
