Mann of Rockwood, Illinois, some written while Mann was serving as lieutenant and commissary of subsistence for the 5th Illinois Cavalry, concern politics and publications such as Montague's Randolph County directory. Also one letter from Thomas G. Allen of Chester, Illinois, to Mann, concerning local political manuevers in 1864 and some news of soldier friends.
