Ian Mackenzie Ringgenberg was born on May 6, 1986 in Duncan, Oklahoma. He received his B.S. (2008) in anthropology from Iowa State University. On March 22, 1948, Iowa State College (University) sponsored a 90th anniversary celebration in honor of the founding of the college, which occurred on the same date in 1858 when the charter act establishing a state agricultural college became law.
