Papers, 1788,1814, include: legal papers, such as deeds, bonds, indentures, and agreements, regarding hiring help and taking boats from Penn. to the New Orleans, and the sale of flour shipped to New Orleans. One of the deeds is for land in Elm Twp. (Allegany County, Pa.) and another for land at the Miami settlement (Ohio). There is also a last will and testament of Joanna Burgess, Washington Twp. (Fayette County, Pa.), 1803. Joanna was illiterate and "made her mark." The collection was donated by Dr. Norman E. Clarke, Sr.
