Wallace Carl Riddick papers, 1913, 1931, 1980 [manuscript].

The papers document Wallace Carl Riddick's involvement in the education of two Serbian students at North Carolina State University. The papers consist of reminiscences of Lillian Daniel Riddick, Riddick's wife, regarding the Serbian students; photographs of the two Serbian students from the Agromeck (1923) and an article about them in the News and Observer (18 May 1980). Also included are newsclippings; correspondence; a letter from John T. Caldwell to Anna Riddick regarding her donation of the Officer's Cross of the Order of St. Sava presented to Riddick by King Alexander the First of Yugoslavia (6 March 1931); and "Hitting the Line", an address by Riddick (7 September 1913).

Wallace Carl Riddick (1864-1942). Professor of engineering (1892-1916), Head of Civil Engineering Department (1895-1908), Vice President of the College (1908-1916), President of North Carolina State University (1916-1923), first Dean and organizer of the Engineering School (1923-1937), and a professor of Hydraulics after his 1937 retirement. Riddick graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. degree (1885) and received his C.E. degree from Lehigh University (1890)....
