Discussing the success of their play [No Thoroughfare], hoping that it is played at the Adelphi as well. Noting the many pirated versions in America, mentioning that Dickens has registered the authorized version with Ticknor and Fields, and describing a conflict with Boston's Museum Theatre. Relating a visit to Harpers, where Dickens discussed with Joseph Harper Collins' proposal of publishing a story [The Moonstone], noting that Harper "praised highly what he had read ... and gave [Dickens] the impression that he was liberally disposed," and discussing particulars related to illustrating the story in that publication. Inquiring after Collins' mother, and discussing his reading schedule.
