Glauco Cambon papers, 1940-1987, bulk 1955-1985.

The collection is principally letters received by Cambon from poets, scholars and friends in Italy and America. Also included are a few typescripts of essays by Cambon and several poetry manuscripts from correspondents. Chief correspondents include Biagio Marin, Eugenio Montale, Giuseppe Prezzolini, and Robert Penn Warren. Smaller amounts of correspondence from Luigi Barzini, Alberto Chiari, Cid Corman, Kurt Pinthus and Vittorio Sereni are in the collection.

Born in 1921 in Pusiano, Italy, Cambon received his D. Phil in 1947. A Professor of Romance Languages and Comparative Literature at the University of Connecticut, Cambon was a specilist in modern Italian poetry, especially Eugenio Montale.
