Lois Hattery Tiffany received her B.S. (1945), M.S. (1947), and Ph.D. (1950) in plant pathology from Iowa State College (University). Tiffany was a professor in the Botany Department (1950-2002) and was named Emeritus Distinguished Professor in 2002. She also served as chair (1990-1996) of the Botany Department. Knaphus, G. (George), 1924-

George Knaphus (1924-2000), a native of Iowa, served during World War II and won the bronze star. He graduated from Iowa State Teachers' College (University of Northern Iowa) in 1949; earned an M.S. (1951) in Plant Pathology from Iowa State College (University); and a Ph. D (1964) in 1964.
