Six letters and copies of 3 speeches delivered by Kendall. The speeches include Kendall's address to the Republican National Convention in Chicago (1916) nominating Albert Cummins for president; a speech given at commencement exercises in Tracy, Iowa (May 18, 1917); and a speech before the 15th Annual Reunion of the Veterans' Association of Cass and Montgomery Counties (August 28, 1907). The correspondence includes a letter from Mrs. Belle Kendall to Kenneth Colton of the State Historical Society of Iowa (August 10, 1941); a letter from Colton to Mrs. Kendall (August 25, 1941); a letter from Emory English to Nathan Kendall (June 20, 1916); a letter from Kendall to English (June 22, 1916); and two letters from President Calvin Coolidge to Governor Kendall (1923).

Albert Baird Cummins was a progressive Republican from Des Moines who served Iowa as state representative (1888-1890), governor (1902-1908) and United States senator (1908-1926). Prior to entering politics Cummins practiced law and gained national visibility for his successful representation of the Iowa Farmers' Protective Association in their case against the Washburn & Moen barbed wire trust. Kendall was admitted to the Iowa Bar in 1887 and established a legal practice in Albia, Iowa where he served as city attorney (1892) and prosecuting county attorney (1893-1897). Belle Wooden was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Wooden of Centerville, Iowa. She attended Centerville schools and Grinnell College. In 1896 she married Nate Kendall, a practicing attorney in Albia who went on to become Iowa's 23rd governor in 1921.
