John George Helmreich (1822-1907) was born in Buerklein (Germany). He married Anna Barbara Hecht (1822-1886), with whom he had ten children: John (1849-1927); George (1850-1918); Conrad (1852-1921); Mrs. Marie Lutz (1853-1899); Paul (1855-1916); Michael (1858-1928); Mrs. Barbara Helmreich (1859-1936); Fred (1861-1914); Mrs. Anna Arnold (1863-1951); and Mrs. Margaret Quintel(1868-1938). Cumming, born in Mass. in 1915, served as Director of the Clarke Historical Library at CMU, 1961-1982. He was an early member and president of the Michigan Archival Association. He earned degrees from Eastern Michigan University and attended Wayne State University and Michigan State University.
