Correspondence, 1850-1851, 1861, from La Tour in Shasta (Calif.) to his [unidentified] mother in Geneva (Wis.) and sister and brother-in-law, Mrs. H.H. Johnson and C.M. Johnson in Kenosha (Wis.), describing the wickedness of [St. Paul?], his overland journey, gold mining, the death of Gen. Stonewall Jackson, and lack of excitement about the Civil War in Calif. His letters were sent from St. Joseph (Mo.), Sacramento City, Race Crick, Shaste (sic) Plains, and Shasto (sic).
