Correspondence between James A. Bayne and his father, James Bayne, 1917-1918. James A. Bayne described his trip to France, submarine dangers at sea, training in the Lafayette Flying Corps, rebellion of Russian soldiers, and the air war between the Germans and Allies. Also included are a few pieces of correspondence between Mr. Bayne and his friends and associates and those of his son, 1918-1919, concerning James A. Bayne's death.

James A. Baynes died on May 8, 1918 in France. He was part of the Lafayette Flying Corps, Aero Squadron, 103rd, in World War I.
