Dobie refers to Porter's letter of Mar. 12, 1943 regarding Buffalo Child Long Lance. He quotes Porter's paragraph and includes an account of his own from Apr. 20, 1948 in which he quotes Frazier Hunt's description of Buffalo Child Long Lance. Dobie was in the process of revising his Guide to life and literature of the Southwest.
